Hope
Community Outreach Services, Incorporated
We are an IRS 501 (c)3 non-profit corporation and an outgrowth of
the community ministries of New Light Holiness Church. The
mission of the center is to effect positive change on every
member of the community, one person at a time.
Hope Community Outreach Services operates the Hope Community
Outreach Center (HCOC) in the heart of Whitman Park, the section
of Camden where 40% of the murders in Camden occur.
HCOC provides programs that give the neighborhood youth positive
alternatives to the lure of fast money and an illicit lifestyle.
From the Computer Literacy to the Food Pantry program, HCOC
plays an important role in the lives of Camden residents of
all ages. We believe we have rescued many lives from the stark
reality of crime and incarceration.
Before and after officially incorporating in 2007, we have
presented over two dozen programs and events to the
community free of charge. These include computer literacy
programs, a food pantry,
clothing giveaways, marriage and family counseling, free summer
camp, trips to the River Sharks baseball games and more. We
currently operate a Boy Scout Troop, a Cub Scout Troop, and
the Adventuring and Exploring club, all supported by the Boy
Scouts of America.
We have done a great deal with almost no funds and few volunteers.
Now we are stepping up the pace and need your help. Our existing 2007 programs
have continued into 2008; also we are in the planning stages
of several more fantastic programs. We
are asking for your support in helping us meet our budget
so we can serve the community with more impacting programs.
We need more because we are doing more.
