Many in this world completely misunderstand the difference between the New Testament and Old Testament. They generally make the New Testament a “law”. Attempting to use their own power to obey the teaching of the New Testament. To obey the teaching of the New Testament you must walk in the Spirit. It is impossible to please God without the power of the Spirit working in your heart.
God Holy Word is Designed to be Follow by the Spirit
The Spirit, Jesus Christ, and the Father Work Together
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. – Romans 12-17
Two clear points:
- You must be led by the Spirit to be a son or daughter of God.
- The Spirit is the only power that can help you overcome the evil deeds of the body.
Do you want freedom? Hope?
The Epistle of Galatians from Apostle Paul makes this even more clear. Read Galatians 5:16-18
“16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” – Galatians 5:16-18
- If someone is still struggling with the flesh, they are not relying on the Holy Spirit.
- Christ is coming back for a sanctified Church. His Church.
Follow God’s word. Get strength to obey God’s word through prayer, the power of the Spirit, and dedication to holiness.
Don’t get drunk on wine. Drink of the Spirit. Read 1 Corinthians 12:13
Washing of Regeneration and Renewal of the Holy Spirit
Born Again So that You May Live
5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” – Titus 3:5-7
No matter how much you believe in Jesus Christ on an intellectual basis, you still are excluded from eternal life until you receive the Holy Spirit. You must be born again (John chapter 3). You must walk in the Spirit.
Make every effort to walk in the Spirit. Allow God’s Spirit to penetrate your heart, mind, and soul.
Reading the Bible will become easy. Prayer will be more natural. Love will overflow from your life. God is Love.
