Marvin’s Inspiration

Making Every Effort to Show God’s Love and Mercy

We have asked a lot over the years from donors that have risen to occasion to help people struggling in extreme poverty. Our hearts are filled with joy over the response by many. Thank you. But, we need your help again. A special request named “Marvin Inspiration”. An opportunity to change a young persons life.

About Marvin

Marvin is a teenager man from Central America. We have been in contact with Marvin and his family for the past eight years. Our extensive interaction with him has revealed his outstanding character, honesty, and strong work ethic. He does not allow his physical challenges to hold him back from being productive.

The aim of this quest is to raise money to make it possible for Marvin to have an operation to solve the issues with his hand/fingers. The Edema has been a hindrance to Marvin in school, work, and social circles.

The Issue: Edema

“Edema” is the medical term for swelling from fluid trapped in your body’s tissues. It happens most often in your feet, ankles, and legs. But it can affect other body parts, too. – Cleveland Clinic

Marvin is suffering from edema affecting two of the five fingers on his right hand. This diagnosis is according to several medical professionals (Internal Medicine Physician and Orthopedist).

This condition can arise from trauma—such as fractures or sprains—inflammatory processes like arthritis or tendonitis, poor circulation, or fluid retention caused by kidney, heart, or liver issues.

WHY MARVIN? WHY NOW?

Why Marvin? Why now? Excellent questions and we are pleased to answer them.

Marvin is a unique kind teenager who has assisted us on many of our trips without asking for help than we offer. Although the family knows the charity could help in this way, they are already incredibly thankful for the help provided.

Why now? Because Marvin is running out of time to save his fingers and to solve the issues involved before he reaches adulthood. Marvin’s desire is to be productive in his community.

THE CURRENT PROGNOSIS

Given how long the edema has persisted and its significant size, surgical intervention is necessary. Based on conversations with Marvin, he is experiencing visible swelling, a loss of grip strength, a sensation of heaviness and localized heat in that part of his hand. Marvin also struggles to move the affected fingers as his mobility declines. If left untreated, he will eventually face difficulties with basic tasks such as changing clothes and working with his hands. The condition could also become chronic.
